Euclid City Schools Pairs Linewize Filtering with Senturo Device Tracking for Comprehensive Student Safety

As Euclid City Schools expanded their digital safety strategy with Linewize’s filtering and classroom management platform, they identified an opportunity to add specialized device location and recovery capabilities, especially in the instance of missing or runaway students.While Linewize focuses on web-based student safety and instructional tools, the district wanted dedicated geo-tracking for asset management and student welfare scenarios. Through Linewize’s partnership with Senturo, they found a complementary solution designed specifically for this purpose.

Devices appeared in the Senturo console within minutes; district-boundary and after-hours geofences were created on day one. On day two, a device left off-site was located, locked with a contact message, and recovered that afternoon, no police report and no ticket ping-pong.

When minutes matter, IT can trigger Missing Mode to move from standard 10-minute pings to real-time telemetry and build a time-stamped evidence trail (location history and network details). On Windows and ChromeOS devices, optional, audit-logged screenshots can be captured only while Missing Mode is active; on Windows, these screenshots, along with SSID and IP data, can help reveal intent (for example, travel or transit pages) to support welfare checks and recoveries. On ChromeOS, Senturo captures IP-based network data(SSID is not exposed on ChromeOS), while macOS/iPadOS devices provide real-time location and network context without screenshots

Most incidents now resolve the same day, avoiding replacement and loaner churn and saving~30 IT hours per month. Missing Mode provides real-time telemetry during active incidents and a time-stamped evidence trail (location history and network details) that can be exported for leadership, SROs, or law enforcement when required. On Chromebooks and Windows, optional, audit-logged screenshots can be captured only while Missing Mode is active; on Windows, these may reveal intent (for example, travel or transit pages) that supports welfare checks and recoveries without guessing.

With last-logged-in user and location history in one place, attendance and school staff resolve mix-ups faster. One-way broadcasts handle test-day prep, OS-update nudges, and “chargey our Chromebook” reminders, reducing classroom interruptions and back-and-forth tickets.

Senturo’s Chrome Lock provides a measured response during recoveries while keeping location live; a full Google Admin lock is reserved for last-resort “brick it” cases. Geofence and time-window automations raise alerts and can auto-lock or trigger Missing Mode based on policy—for example, when devices leave district boundaries after hours or connect via hotspots during school time.

Senturo’s privacy-first model supports district policies and state requirements (for example,Ohio SB 29). Euclid issues an annual notice district-wide, and when location is accessed under a permitted circumstance, a parent/guardian notification is sent via the district’s SIS. Audit logs show who accessed which device’s data, when, and under which incident, helping the district demonstrate governance and restraint.
